Blood Donation
Blood donation is one of the most significant contributions that a person can make towards society. It is not harmful for an adult person to donate blood. The body of the donor can regenerate the blood within a few days. It poses no threat to the metabolism of the body. Blood is required for treatment of accidental injuries, burns, diseases like Haemorrhagic, Anaemia, Leukaemia, Thalassemia and Haemolytic ailments. In times of accidental injuries that shed huge amounts of blood and also in various types of surgical operations for medical treatments, we require blood for transfusion. Safe blood transfusion comes under legal protection as it is life-saving and also fatal.

Various Methods have been implemented to convince the youth to donate their blood for humankind. Many NGO’s have set up blood donation camps in all parts of the country. Nationwide IEC campaigns are conducted for donor motivation, recruitment, selection and retention. Many Organizations have come forward in large numbers to support the cause of Blood donation educational institutions, religious organizations, defence services, many non-governmental organizations and charitable societies. Blood donation camps have proved to play an important role in saving thousands of lives across the country. Some voluntary organizations have also taken the initiative to facilitate blood availability in case of rare blood groups by setting up blood donation camps. According to WHO data, India faces a shortage of 3 million blood units. This shortage can easily be eliminated if only an additional 2% of India's youth donates blood.
